The WomenÕs Cancer Advocacy Network (WCAN) is an organization of experienced advocates devoted to reaching and working on behalf of women and their social supports, and educating patients, practitioners and policymakers about new and effective ways to manage breast and gynecological cancers.

Our advocates work to benefit women in many ways.

The advocates:

¥ Distribute educational materials to women at risk of our diagnosed with breast, ovarian, uterine and cervical cancer and cancers of the vagina, vulva and fallopian tubes.

¥ Donate books, videos and other patient centered materials to hospitals and other treatment centers.

¥ Represent patientsÕ perspectives at cancer conferences, research meetings and cancer institutions on the local, state and national level.

¥ Represent cancer patients by reviewing grant proposals for cancer research.

¥ Work with researchers to develop patient-centered materials about medical research studies (called clinical trials).

¥ Speak with media, policy makers, doctors and researchers about the scientific and ethical concerns of those diagnosed with womenÕs cancers.

¥ Promote partnerships to provide cancer education and services to the medically underserved populations in order to eliminate the unequal burden of cancer among these women.

¥ Look for new opportunities in which to represent and benefit cancer patients.
